The 30 Most Anticipated Albums of 2018

New year, new music! Consequence of Sound is out with its picks for the 30 most anticipated albums of 2018. Here are 10 that are bound to make a splash (check the link for the full list):Justin Timberlake, Man of the Woods (February 2). The recent teaser for this album revealed an earthy, folktronica sound. It’s surely an interesting turn for the former boy-band star.Dashboard Confessional, Crooked Shadows (February 9). It’s been eight years since we’ve had the emo songwriting of Chris Carrabba and there’s no better time for a return than 2018.Franz Ferdinand, Always Ascending (February 9). Now 14 years removed from their smash hit “Take Me Out,” Always Ascending offers a chance for Franz Ferdinand to wipe the slate clean and start fresh.Superchunk, What a Time to Be Alive (February 16). What a Time to Be Alive appears poised to be the most pointed and overtly political outing of the iconic indie act’s career.Arctic Monkeys, TBA. Five years since their last album, Arctic Monkeys’ fans are eager to see what evolutions the Sheffield quartet might make in 2018.The Breeders, TBA. These Dayton rockers’ output has never been anything less than solid. Judging on the as-yet-untitled album’s first single, “Wait in the Car,” the band hasn’t lost any of its quirky, alt-rock cool.David Byrne, TBA. With contributions from Brian Eno, expect this project to offer deep-listening exploration into an enigmatic, digital-organic universe. Car Seat Headrest, Twin Fantasy (release date TBA). Will Toledo is still unmatched in his ability to pen tracks filled with both lyrical and compositional ambition. It’s only reasonable that we’d await his next full-length with eager expectations.Charli XCX, TBA. At this point, it seems like Charli has settled into her post-“Boom Clap” sound. Now it’s just a matter of slowing down to make a studio album. Sky Ferreira, TBA. We’re still hoping for the followup to her 2013 debut album Night Time, My Time. It has to be a good sign that she kicked off 2018 with a New Year’s Eve gig in Detroit. The A.V. Club has also come out with its picks for the most anticipated albums of 2018. They include Kanye West’s Turbo Grafx 16, as well as LPs from My Bloody Valentine, Vampire Weekend, Andrew W.K., and Jack White. The 30 Most Anticipated Albums of 2018 | Consequence of Sound: https://consequenceofsound.net/2018/01/the-30-most-anticipated-albums-of-2018/full-post/Our most-anticipated albums of 2018 (that we know of): https://http://www.avclub.com/our-most-anticipated-albums-of-2018-that-we-know-of-1821262983
